Ljubljana, 19. Jun - Institute for African Studies -IAS invite you as guest speaker on 20th of June 2008 about the state of politics and the challenges of Africa from an academic as well as global sustainability view point. - As you know 20th of June is the international day of refugees.
The purpose of the conference is to assess the challenges of Migration and causes of migration from the global point of view and the state of migrants in the west and quest of human rights. The EU policy on migration will be assessed. In the opinion of academics and activists, the WEST is making a short term solution than long term global sustainability, while other new comers like China have a strategy of their own. The Paris declaration on official development assistance (ODA) and aid effectiveness has been clearly stated to alleviate poverty and bring a meaning full change in governance and accountability. Under this political limbo, states of the south are caught in a vicious circle.
Does these activities brought/bring a vivid development to the region and retrain migration or is it just rhetoric and business as usual? We will raise the problems of migrants / Diaspora in the west, human right issues, and refugees. We will be delighted to have you here in Ljubljana with other panel speakers from the academic and political circle.
Please find more about the conference here.
