Brussels, 21 Feb - The European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Countries of South East Europe presents The Joint History Project, by The Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe (CDRSEE) with the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe on Monday, 25 February 2008, from 16,30 till 18,30, in Room A5E-2 of European Parliament, Brussels.

 

The main features of the Project:

a.. Set of 4 history books translated and published in 7 languages;
b.. Over 60 historians, teachers and civil society organisation staff from more than 12 countries cooperating over 9 years;
c.. Over 100 teachers trained
d.. Multi-perspective education for fostering a new generation of democratic citizens

 

The Southeast European Joint History Project is a groundbreaking initiative that challenges stereotypes, encourages critical thought and supports multi-perspective and participative education towards the goal of civil societies and democracy.

 

Hosted by the EP Delegation for Southeast Europe, and with a keynote speech by Dr Erhard Busek, Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, the CDRSEE presents an entertaining and informative look at the potential of the Joint History Project for stability, sustainable growth, and progress towards EU integration and accession of the countries of the Western Balkans.

 

At this time of tremendous changes in Southeast Europe, which also have important implications for the EU, the Joint History Project is a bold and timely idea worked out with civil society for the emergence of a new generation of European citizens.
