Brussels, 24 Jan - No Fortress Europe has just been released it's third issue of "No Fortress Bulletin" where they are opening a question of the Erased, as well. All documents in that issue including the previous two issues you can find online on their web site.
One of the issues in this "No Fortress Bulletin" is the situation regarding the Erased Residents of Slovenia, as they have quoted: »this week the Slovene Presidency of the Council sent its 2 ministers for Justice and Home Affairs to the Civil Liberties committee of the European Parliament to discuss with MEPs the priorities of the Presidency in this area. Besides confirming the engagement to find an agreement on the return directive (though not being able to express the Council position on the length of detention), the Minister of Home Affairs denied the existence of an issue concerning "erased people" from Slovenia and stressed that the new constitutional law will solve the problem.«
GUE MEP Giusto Catania has declared at the end of the hearing: "We are disappointed; we hoped this to be a priority of the Slovenian Presidency, as now it is no longer just a national issue but also a European one, since these citizens have been deprived of their European citizenship. In this semester the issue of "erased people" will be for us a priority"
